Industrial crane gearboxes engineered for EOT overhead cranes, gantry cranes and port cranes 1–50 ton. Designed for frequent start-stop cycles, shock loads and Class FEM M4/M5 duty ratings.
Each crane type has distinct operational requirements — our gearbox engineering is matched to your specific application.
Charging cranes, billet cranes, slab handling and hot metal cranes with high-duty cycles
Gantry cranes, ship loaders, quay cranes and RMG container cranes in marine environments
Underground mine hoists, cable cranes and heavy-duty ore handling cranes
Tower cranes, mobile cranes and crawler cranes for heavy lift construction
Workshop overhead cranes, jib cranes and magnetic sheet handling cranes
Designed for the specific mechanical and thermal demands of crane operation — not adapted from general-purpose gearboxes.
All our crane gearboxes are rated for FEM Class M4 (60% duty cycle, medium-heavy) or M5 (100% duty cycle, continuous heavy) — not Class M3. This means reliable performance in actual operating conditions, not just at rated load in a test bay.
Hoist gearboxes include an integrated fail-safe brake that activates immediately on power loss — preventing load drop. Spring-applied, hydraulic-released (SAHR) design is standard for safety-critical crane applications. Brake torque rating exceeds 150% of nominal gearbox output torque.
Crane operations require frequent starting under full load. Our planetary hoist gearboxes deliver 2.5× rated torque at start — essential for lifting with worn wire ropes and off-center loads. This prevents clutch slip and motor stalling during heavy lifts.
Unlike standard gearboxes, crane gearboxes experience repeated thermal cycling. Our housing design includes cooling fins and thermal mass calculations to handle 15 starts per hour at rated load without overheating. For desert steel mills and tropical ports, extended thermal ratings are available.
Crane hook block bouncing and emergency stops create shock loads up to 3× rated torque. Our gearboxes use modified involute gear tooth profiles and case-hardened material to handle these peak loads without tooth fatigue or housing cracking — a common failure mode in inferior gearboxes.
Modular housing design allows bearing and seal replacement without full gearbox removal from crane. Common spare parts across the H2/H3/H4 series means your maintenance team can complete seal changes in 4–6 hours rather than sending the gearbox to an external workshop.
Different crane architectures require different gearbox configurations — we specify the right solution for each application.
Double-girder and single-girder EOT cranes for workshop, factory and workshop applications. Hoist, cross-travel and long-travel drives.
Semi-gantry and full gantry cranes for yards, ports and fabrication yards. Rubber-tyred and rail-mounted configurations.
Wall-mounted and floor-mounted jib cranes for localized lifting in workshops and production lines.
Wire rope hoist units with integrated gearbox and brake for new crane build or retrofit.
Understanding hoist and travel gearbox configurations — and how our engineering matches them to your crane's operational profile.
A crane hoist gearbox must handle three critical mechanical demands simultaneously: high starting torque for lifting off the slack rope, smooth speed control for precise load positioning, and reliable holding brake function in case of power failure. Our H3-series planetary hoist gearbox addresses all three.
