Engineering Standards

Technical-grade lubrication for industrial reliability and extended equipment life.

Oil Film Strength

EP gear oils maintain protective lubrication films under extreme industrial load conditions, reducing gear surface wear and extending gearbox service life.

Thermal Stability

High operating temperatures accelerate oil degradation. Synthetic and oxidation-resistant lubricants improve reliability in continuous-duty environments.

Contamination Control

Water and particle contamination accelerate internal gearbox wear. Oil analysis helps detect contamination before equipment failure occurs.

Change Interval Optimization

Optimized lubrication intervals reduce maintenance cost while maintaining equipment reliability and operational safety.

Viscosity Matching

Correct viscosity selection ensures stable lubrication film thickness under varying load and temperature conditions.

Total Cost of Ownership

Proper lubricant selection reduces downtime, extends equipment life and lowers long-term maintenance cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common lubrication selection and application questions from maintenance engineers and procurement specialists.

Gear oil is formulated for gear mesh lubrication with EP additives for high film strength under extreme pressure. Hydraulic oil is formulated for hydraulic pump and valve lubrication with anti-wear (AW) additives and anti-foam agents. They are NOT interchangeable. Using hydraulic oil in a gearbox causes insufficient film strength and foam; using gear oil in a hydraulic system causes valve sticking from incorrect additive chemistry.
In clean, temperature-controlled environments (±25°C, low dust): 5,000–8,000 hours for mineral oil. In high-dust mining environments or above 45°C ambient: 2,000–4,000 hours mineral, 8,000–15,000 hours synthetic. The most accurate method is oil analysis every 2,000 hours — particle count, moisture content, acid number.
EP stands for Extreme Pressure — gear oils containing chemical additives that form a sacrificial protective film on metal surfaces under high load. When gear tooth contact stress exceeds oil film strength, EP additives prevent metal-to-metal welding and micropitting wear. For mining, crane and steel applications, EP-rated gear oil is standard.
Synthetic gear oil is justified when: (1) Sump temperature exceeds 80°C — synthetic maintains viscosity better. (2) Extended drain intervals are required — synthetic achieves 2–3× operating hours. (3) Cold-temperature operation below −15°C. For most applications above 5°C ambient, quality mineral EP gear oil is adequate.
Yes. Single-point and multi-point automatic lubricators can be fitted to most existing gearboxes, crane drives, conveyors and rotating equipment without major modification. We provide retrofit kits with modified fittings and mounting brackets for common gearbox models.
